Dr Grant Morris is Associate Professor in Law at Victoria University of Wellington. He is an accredited mediator with the Resolution Institute and has worked as a facilitator and negotiator over the past two decades. Dr Morris’s research areas include mediation, interest-based negotiation and New Zealand legal history. He has published several books and numerous articles on these subjects, including the recent work, Mediation in New Zealand (Thomson Reuters, 2017). Dr Morris leads the ongoing New Zealand Commercial Mediation Study.
Dr Morris presents a fortnightly slot on Radio NZ looking at NZ history in context. He also coordinates the Faculty’s first year legal system course, LAWS121: NZ Legal System in Context and is the recipient of a VUW Teaching Excellence Award. Beyond dispute resolution and history, Dr Morris plays club football and is a keen opera buff.
